Making It Home: From Vietnam to New Orleans

Join us for a special evening in support of HNOC's newest exhibition, Making It Home, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Vietnamese migration to New Orleans.
In the intimate setting of their exhibition’s mock-living room, Chef Nini Nguyen will sit down with exhibit curator Mark Cave for a live conversation rooted in storytelling and shared heritage. This informal dialogue will explore themes of home, identity, and the Vietnamese-American experience in New Orleans. Mark, who developed the exhibition through oral histories with local Vietnamese families, will guide the conversation - creating a unique opportunity to hear Chef Nini’s own reflections as part of this living archive.

She’ll be serving a dish that highlights the rich culinary traditions of the American South, infused with fresh, locally-sourced Hawaiian seafood. This event celebrates the intersection of Southern flavor and island bounty - all in support of culinary education, sustainability, and local agriculture.
